Michael has been looking for a new car recently. We planned to buy one at the end of the year or early next year, but the Contour is on her last leg. Every time we drive the Contour something else breaks or doesn't work correctly. Michael has been doing a LOT of research on trucks so that he would be well informed if he had to make a decision quickly. The poor Contour started clunking and shaking horribly last week. We took this as a sign to start seriously looking NOW. We paid off my car last month so we can afford to make another car payment now. While we were at the river, Michael talked to Chuck and Steven about their trucks. Chuck mentioned that he has a friend that sells trucks in Humbolt. Chuck made a phone call and told his friend, Craig, what Michael wanted. Craig agreed to sell Michael his "dream truck" for invoice price. We stopped by Humbolt on the way home to look at the truck. Craig was able to offer us $6000 in instant rebates and give Michael free leather. It was a deal that we COULDN'T refuse! So Michael is the owner of a 2008 Chevy Silverado. I'm sooo happy for him!

Michael and I went to the Tennessee River this past weekend. Carla and Chuck own a house right off of the river, so we went up to hang out with them. Stacey, Steven, Taylor, Stephanie, Braden, Jeff, and Gage were there for some fun too. We spent Sunday playing on the river and enjoying the sunny weather. It was extremely hot so the water felt great!

Monday it was time to start wrapping everything up. Carla, Chuck, Braden, Michael, and I went out for an afternoon ride after the sun went down.
Braden wanted to go fishing on the afternoon ride. We soon found out that he only liked casting the poles. He wasn't patient enough to wait for a bite. He was fun to watch. One minute he was scared to touch the worms and the next he was excited to stick it on the hook. We didn't catch anything.
Once Braden got bored with fishing he decided to jump off of the boat and take a little swin. He did this MANY times until it was too dark.
We had a great weekend! It was very relaxing, and we had a lot of fun visiting with everyone. I can't wait to do it again!!!

Michael and I haven't been able to take a vacation this summer because of scheduling conflicts. So we've brought the vacation to us...haha. Michael's mom and Dennis visited us this past week, and we filled the time with fun activities. We started of the "vacation" in Sikeston, Mo. We went to Lambert's restaurant, the home of the thrown rolls. Aunt Midge and Aunt Dale drove from Memphis to meet us there. We had over an hour wait in the HOT sun, but it was worth it in the end. We enjoyed catching rolls and eating the pass-arounds. Everyone walked out stuffed!
Michael entertained himself with quarters while we waited
I thought that it would be fun to take some pictures of Mom and Dennis. These are some of my favorites.
We decided to finish up our "vacation" with a Redbirds' game. The Redbirds didn't win, but we had fun watching the game.
